Tour Details:
You will be picked up in the morning between approximately 07:30–08:00 AM from your hotel, cruise port in Izmir or Kuşadası, or Izmir Airport and begin your full-day historical journey across the Aegean region.
Priene Ancient City: Your first stop is the ancient Ionian city of Priene, dramatically situated at the foot of a steep mountain overlooking the fertile Meander River valley. This remarkably preserved settlement dates back over 2,500 years and is known as one of the earliest cities designed using a grid street planning system.
During your guided visit, explore the remains of temples, public buildings, and ancient streets while learning about the city’s significance in Greek urban planning and philosophy. The site also offers spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
Miletus Ancient City: Continue to Miletus, one of the most important commercial and intellectual centers of the ancient world. Located near the Aegean coast, the city was once a major maritime power and home to influential philosophers and scientists.
Explore its impressive Grand Theatre, originally built in the 4th century BC and capable of seating more than 15,000 spectators. You will also visit the historic Baths of Faustina, named after the wife of Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius, and learn about daily life during the Roman period.
Following your visit, enjoy lunch at a traditional Turkish restaurant before continuing to the final destination.
Didyma & Temple of Apollo: The last stop of the day is Didyma, once connected to Miletus by a sacred road and renowned for its monumental Temple of Apollo. This remarkable sanctuary was one of the largest religious structures of the Hellenistic era and served as an important oracle center in antiquity.
Although the temple was never fully completed, its enormous columns and impressive architectural remains still demonstrate the scale and grandeur of ancient Greek engineering.
At approximately 4:00 PM, the tour concludes with transfer back to your hotel, cruise port, or Izmir Airport.Â
